I complained too much. That’s what my husband says now. And because I was up all night, he was up, too. My husband could sleep through the loudest snores, so my complaints weren’t the ones keeping him awake. It was that he really was worried that I was on my second trimester and I wasn’t getting any sleep at all! Who would have thought that all those nights, all I needed was a maternity pillow?

You may realize that as you approach the latter parts of your pregnancy, simple activities such as sleeping become difficult as the physical changes manifest. The pressure of the weight brought about by your wonderful bulging belly creates pressure around your legs, your sides and your back as you try to sleep. Thankfully the [maternity pillow] has been invented so that you wouldn’t need to continually surround yourself with numerous shifting pillows, constantly readjusting them through the night.

A maternity pillow is usually C-shaped. A C-shaped pillow provides perfect support for the neck and props up the head nicely. It’s very nice to have a neck support while sleeping because it aids in breathing. You could let the C-shaped maternity pillow go around in front of you so it provides support for your belly and at the same time, it could go between your legs. If used the other way around, a C-shaped pillow provides comfortable support for your back. A C-shaped maternity pillow could be bent or twisted in many ways to be used in different situations like reading, watching TV, or even breastfeeding after giving birth.

Wedge pillow – This maternity pillow is perfect when you’re lying on your side. This maternity pillow is specifically designed to be inserted under the belly when lying on your side or between the legs to help align your hips preventing back pain. U or V shaped pillow – This big maternity body pillow can be used to support the abdomen and align your hips when you are sleeping on your side. This pillow basically cradles the sleeper and provides additional back support, making it the most wanted among pregnant women.

Cylinder full body pillow – This is the most popular shape among all maternity pillows. Like its name, it is shaped like a long cylinder, usually as long as your body. It can be used in front of the body, under the abdomen and sometimes between the legs at the same time.

Personally, I believe when it comes to pregnancy issues the word “comfortable” is very hard to come by due to the stress involved. Over the years women had to put up with all sorts of body aches and discomfort but now all those worries are finally over, manufactures have come up with the “Maternity Pillow” to help ease the burden for mothers. It comes in different varieties and style, Checkout the model you think will suit you best.
