Not advertising for charity dinner handling?

In my area of Ontario is an ad that allegedly shows starving children of third world that is at the dinner. I think it's a very cynical manipulation. My wife and I give monthly childcare Canada, so recognize the need. But to show these ads when you're sitting at a meal, seems manipulation. Yes, we can turn on the TV, but we must be free to do what we want. What do you think?
